Preparation of National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (NAP) Sri Lanka.

Being the National focal point to the UNFCCC and its KYOTO Protocol (KP), the ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment has initiated to prepare the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Sri Lanka (NAP), based on the National Climate Policy and it’s Adaptation Strategy that already formulated.

Upgrading of National Action for Haritha Lanka

Ensuring the environmental sustainability of all development programmes is of paramount importance to achieve the sustainable development targets of the country. Intended Nationally Determined Contributions - INDCs

As a part of the international climate change negotiations, each country would submit Intended Nationally Determined Contribution prior to 21st session of the UNFCCC. UNEP has submitted a medium size project proposal to GEF on preparation of INDCs.  Therefore Ministry of Environment initiated the project on “Preparation of Intended Nationally Determined Contribution to the 2015 Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

UNDP Programme on Biomass Energy for Industrial Heat

GEF funded project “Promoting Sustainable Biomass Energy Production and Modern Bio-Energy Technologies” agreement was signed in July 2013 between Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) and UNDP. The executive partner of the project is Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy (MopE) in Sri Lanka.  The goal of the project is reduce Greenhouse Gas emission in Sri Lanka industrial sector.
